YMCA HOUSING DEPARTMENT

YMCA Cornwall is at the forefront of housing provision, helping to house disadvantaged young people throughout the County.

YMCA Cornwall specialises in working with 16 – 25 year olds.

There are six main areas of housing delivery attached to YMCA Cornwall.

Advice is given on homelessness, finding accommodation in Penwith and general housing issues.  This post is currently being funded by YMCA Cornwall

HOUSING ADVICE

A housing advice service runs at Penzance YMCA Tuesday & Friday by appointment only. 

 Tuesday  9am—5pm

 Friday    9am—5pm

Advice is given on homelessness, finding accommodation in Penwith and general housing issues. This post is currently being funded by YMCA Cornwall.

PHA ‘MOVE ON’ FLATS

 The YMCA support 4 tenants living in PHA flats allocated to the YMCA in April 2004 and used for ‘move on’ accommodation These flats are sited in different housing estates in Penzance. 

 The four flats are part of a final ‘stepping stone’ process between supported housing and completely independent living  - ideal for those young people who may just need some extra short term support.

 

ST LEVAN WING

St Levan Wing consists of temporary emergency accommodation and is part of the Penzance YMCA main building. 

The service offers accommodation and support for homeless 16—25 year olds.  There are eight single rooms available.

 Placements are funded by external agencies such as Kerrier and Penwith District Councils or Social Services

 

 

 SUPPORTED HOUSING   APPLETREE AND CHEERYTREE HOUSE

YMCA Cornwall manages Appletree House on behalf of YMCA England and Cherrytree House on behalf of PHA (Penwith Housing Association). 

These two projects provide 21 units of self contained accommodation ranging from studio to one bedroom flats for young people aged 16—25 years.

 The project aims to support and guide young people towards independent living.
