Resettlement Service was set up in June 1999. It aims to offer
advice and support to homeless young people moving into locally resourced accommodation.
Who can access the Service ?
Anyone who is looking for
accommodation or has found some and also feels they need some
support can access the service.
The
YMCA’s aim is to enable these young residents to develop a variety
of independent living skills and build on the skills they already
have. A support package is put together based on the client’s
needs. The client and
resettlement worker identify the support package together.
Two
of the young people recently accommodated were under 18 and needed
weekly contact for help with claiming benefits, chasing up housing
benefit payments, ideas to combat loneliness and information about
college and applying for grants.
Whereas,
others have needed less support.
The
areas covered by resettlement include:-
