Do you have a couple of hours to spare? Are you looking for a work experience placement? Are you interested in working with young people? We are always looking for volunteers to support the programme of activities on offer for young people. Please contact Tracy Robson (Senior Youth & Community Worker) on (01736) 334821 for more information on volunteer opportunities. YMCA Cornwall is dedicated to the support of the volunteers who have committed their time to work for the YMCA. We value the work that the volunteers undertake and try to help them gain skills and attend training courses, which will hopefully lead on to employment opportunities not just at the YMCA but in other organisations. YMCA Cornwall has put together a basic Youth Work Skills Course for Volunteer Youth Workers to gain skills, knowledge and increase their confidence when working with young people. The course involves units on Child Protection, Health & Safety and Risk Assessments, Equality & Diversity, Skills for Self Management, Lone Working and Boundaries, and what it means to be a volunteer in youth work. We aim to develop and create the very best youth and community services for all young people in and around Penzance. The Youth & Community department is forward thinking and responsive. The developments we make allow for the growth of the department, staff, volunteers and young people we work with. We ensure that we work alongside local community groups offering them help and support and aiding them in the sustainability of their youth provision. |
